Noura is an energy and sustainability professional and enthusiast from Saudi Arabia who has been working on the subject of energy and sustainability field in Saudi Arabia for over a decade. She joined KAPSARC in August 2016 as a Senior Research Associate.
Noura was also a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) researching sustainable desalination and in particular optimizing a design for sustainable desalination for Saudi Arabia.
She is also the Strategy and Marketing Manager for AREVA. The AREVA Group is a world leader in nuclear power. The group’s offer to utilities covers every stage of the nuclear fuel cycle, reactor design and construction, and operating services.
In March 2012 Noura co-founded the CellA+ Network. Cella "The Saudi Professional Women's Network" is a non-profit initiative in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that targets professional women's empowerment and support to each other through a mix of services, activities and professional programs that target the working women.
Whilst studying in the UK, Noura worked at the Centre for Global Energy Studies carrying out research on renewable energy. Noura has also made a commitment to volunteering: she worked on strategy development for establishing the Professional Development Centre at Dar Al Hekma College in Jeddah (where she took her first degree.
She holds a PhD from Queen Mary with a thesis on ‘Carbon Management for Sustainable Development: An examination of potential transition paths for the Saudi Arabian ‘national system of innovation’ towards a cleaner energy economy’ and a Diploma in Diplomacy and International Relations from Tufts University - The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy
