Course: MA  International Relations

Fahmia graduated from the University of Westminster in 2009 with an MA in International Relations. With her new specialisation in this field, she continues to contribute to the development of her country and the empowerment of Yemeni women. Upon her return to Sana’a, Fahmia joined the NGO SAVE as the local coordinator for Yemen. Her experience as both a journalist and a teacher made her a valuable contributor to SAVE Yemen and SAVE Global.

Fahmia is now working for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as a Communication Analyst, promoting and raising awareness about reproductive health, reproductive rights, gender, and population issues in order to help reduce maternal mortality in Yemen. She also helps the UNFPA country office to improve communication and information processes and activities, and promotes UNFPA’s policy, program implementation and work among partners, civil society, international and local media and in public.

Fahmia says, ‘I am very grateful to the MBI Al Jaber Foundation for giving me the opportunity to live in one of the most cosmopolitan cities of the world and to study in one of its prestigious universities’.
