Saifedean Ammous is Assistant Professor of Economics at the Lebanese American University, and Foreign Member of the Center on Capitalism and Society at Columbia University.


Sophie graduated from SOAS in 2003 with an MSc in Development Studies. She believes that she and her fellow MBI Al Jaber Foundation Alumni were selected as ambassadors for their countries. After working for some time in higher education in Saudi Arabia, Sophie joined the British Council in Dubai and from 2007 - 2008 worked as a Project Manager for Schools and Social Partnerships.


Ahmed graduated in 2003 from LEAD with a Diploma in Development and has since been awarded a PhD in Architecture. He has been involved in the architectural design of many projects in Egypt, Sudan, Syria, KSA, Jordan, Iran and Ethiopia.


Journalist on BBC Xtra – the flagship daily 2 hour live magazine programme on BBC Arabic, driving social and human interest issues onto the main news agenda of the Arabic Service.


He holds an M.B.A. from INSEAD funded by the MBI al Jaber Foundation in 2003 and graduated from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications.


Adham studied for an MSc in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems at LSE, graduating in 2003. He believes that the MBI Al Jaber Foundation scholarship has allowed him to pursue his chosen career and has opened up opportunities for him to study for a PhD at some point in the future.


Mohammed graduated from the University of Westminster in 2003 with an MA in Communications Policy and has worked at Etisalat Telecommunications Corporation in the UAE since 2005.


While studying for her MA in Near & Middle Eastern History at SOAS, Muzna planned to take up a teaching or academic position to advance Middle Eastern art, culture and history.


Afaf graduated from SOAS in 2003 with an MA in Violence, Conflict & Development. After completing her degree, it was difficult for her to return to Palestine, so Afaf decided to work in Cairo as a Manager for the Ramattan News Agency (which is of Palestinian origin).


Ghina graduated from AUB with an MBA in 2003 and is working as a Systems Engineer in the IT & Development department at BLOM Bank, the largest bank in the Lebanon.
