MBI Al Jaber Foundation alumnus, Dr Saifedean Ammous, has recently signed a contract with publisher John Wiley & Sons for his latest book, “The Bitcoin Standard”.  He has been interviewed by Al Arabiya and “The Vortex”, a leading YouTube channel dedicated to keeping followers up-to-speed with any news regarding the Bitcoin network and its development.  In addition, on October 3rd, Dr Ammous is speaking at an event organised by the Committee for Monetary Reform and Education in New York City, alongside other economics experts, with some of the “most brilliant” minds in today’s economic sciences.

Saifedean has explained, in several interviews, how he deems the bitcoin “a sound means” that could revolutionise monetary transactions, since moving actual money is expensive and time-consuming (which is why commission is charged for transferring funds).  Saifedean confirmed that enabling people to invest as they wish, and in a completely safe environment, is the real purpose of it all.  Of course Bitcoin will take time to gain a foothold and people will need time to become competent at using it.

Saifedean Ammous was awarded an MBI Al Jaber Foundation scholarship and graduated in 2004. He had the opportunity to study at the London School of Economics (LSE) where he was awarded an MSc in Development Management.  He also has a PhD, M.Phil and an MA in Sustainable Development from Columbia University, as well as a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.  Since 2011, he has been Assistant Professor of Economics at the Lebanese American University.
